Why I created S.T.A.R.T.

Growing up in the Cradle of Aerospace, I saw what kids are missing

I worked just miles from SpaceX – surrounded by people building the future. But when I looked at how we teach kids STEM, I saw worksheets and lectures. I created STEM activities that are both fun and informative, helping students maximize their efforts to achieve lasting results of transformative change.

I created the S.T.A.R.T. Program to accomplish much including, giving students the opportunity to learn useful STEM knowledge, build electric projects by hand using real tools, and grow their educational mindset to become the best builder and problem solver possible.

The S.T.A.R.T. Program was born in the city known for being the Cradle of aerospace

Why S.T.A.R.T. is different

S.T.A.R.T. combines What Others Don’t

Tutoring centers help kids improve test scores. Summer camps give them fun and social time. The S.T.A.R.T. Program does both – and much more!

We combine hands-on engineering projects with daily math support, so your child builds real skills, real confidence, and a working invention by the end of summer.

What Other Programs Offer

  • Academic test prep
  • Social / craft-based activities
  • Videos lessons or passive work
  • Generic instructions

The S.T.A.R.T.delivers

√ Applied math through engineering projects

√ Real builds with robotics, physics, and invention

√ Live Zoom + real time support

√ Program created by STEM educator and UCLA Eletrical Engineer Alumni in Hawthorne, CA, the Cradle of Aerospace.

For parents who missed early camps

Late to Camp? Just in Time to S.T.A.R.T.

Most STEM camps are already full, Tutor centers are packed.

This is your last chance to give your child a structured, inspiring, and academically supportive summer, from the comfort of home.

S.T.A.R.T. IS ALL ABOUT STEM

About S.T.A.R.T.

The STEM Training And Robotics Technology Program develops creative and innovative reasoning skills through online STEM lessons and a hands-on electric project kit.

The S.T.A.R.T. Program is designed to accomplish many things to begin the process of helping your child become a problem solver.

S.T.A.R.T. program students will…

· Learn science fundamentals…it’s nice to know how things work.

· Learn how to think like an engineer…the harder problems you solve, the more you will get paid.

· Learn skills to think critically and gain the confidence to achieve academic success!

Get your child caught back up and get ahead in class with Sierra Glen Education and The S.T.A.R.T. Program.

Student Testimonials

This program influenced me to pursue engineering, innovating, and learning. At first I wanted to do structural engineering, now I will think about mechanical engineering because I find my new interests and passion lies in that field.
- Kirsten E.
I would recommend this program for friends interested in a STEM career, or more specifically a technology & engineering career. They will get a lot of experience, learn a lot, meet a lot of good people, & have a fun time doing it.
- Haylee H.
I will recommend this program because you get to learn a whole bunch of things, like understand how robotics works, and learn all the subsystems and be able to work on your problem-solving skills!
- Stephanie R.

Meet SGED’s Founder and your Education Coach - Professor G

Teaching and technology are his passion…STEM should be his middle name as he has spent his whole life surrounded by it.

He was born, raised and resides in the city known as the Cradle of Aerospace…Hawthorne, CA.

Glen was influenced from an early age by his father who spent his career working at Space Park for TRW, in Redondo Beach, as an electronics technician, helping to build satellites for national defense.

Glen was in the High School Involvement program (HIP), his senior year as an intern at the Northrop Aircraft Company; the program sponsor. You can watch a Northrop commercial below featuring Glen at work; he’s the one on the motorcycle.

Glen began working full time at Northrop Aircraft Company, and worked in inventory control, helping to build the fuselage for Boeing 747 jet airliner.

Fun fact, he worked in the very same buildings that SpaceX now uses to build their Falcon 9 space rocket, near the Hawthorne Municipal Airport (Jack Northrop Field).

Glen earned his Electrical Engineering degree at UCLA and brings much to the S.T.A.R.T. Program from that experience.
